Star Cannot Start VZFit Explorer
Posted by: Turtlerocket - 07-07-2020, 06:03 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Finally got the VZFit Play to start and run. Currently using the recommended CooSpo cadence sensor with my Oculus Go and Go controller.  However, cannot start the VZFit Explorer.  It says i need to pedal forward to start.  However, the sensor clearly worked with VZFit Play games (tried the tutorial and the cowboy game).  Any insight into what the problem is?

Thanks.

  Stats error?
Posted by: Shon_T - 07-07-2020, 04:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

So...I'm experiencing some "Stats errors" again. today 7/6/2020, I did over 10k spins... yet, Events is only showing 2674 Total for the week. I looked up usage, and it is only showing the 2674 for 7/7 and nothing for 7/6.

Last week I thought my stats looked fairly low with all the riding I did...but I was doing all sorts of short rides creating new routes...and wasn't really paying close attention.

The last snapshot I took shows 11629 Spins as of 7/7/20 3:02am.

I didn't do any riding Sunday but I did at least 10-20k spins on Sat 7/4, and it is only showing 4952...

I did change my sensor battery on Friday or Sat...

  Streaming Explorer from Oculus Go?
Posted by: TsukiNoK - 07-05-2020, 10:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I'm looking for a way to stream VZfit Explorer on Twitch.  Can it be done?

I've tried casting from an Oculus Go to a current-gen iPad, mirroring the iPad with Reflector3, then capturing that in Streamlabs OBS running on a high-end computer.  The problem is that the best results I've gotten have been about 1 frame per second.  It seems that the worst degradation in quality and frame rate is between the Go and the iPad.

Has anyone had any luck with this?  It's not VZfit Explorer that's at fault; I get the same problem casting the Go's home screen.  The connection also seems unstable.

As a last resort, I get better but non-ideal results from casting to my 4-year-old Android phone and pointing an old webcam at the phone.

User guide? Question on various settings
Posted by: chipsndip - 07-05-2020, 05:14 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

I was super excited to find out about this app - I ordered my cadence sensor and waited impatiently for it to arrive... I then played the games for about an hour on first launch, completely lost in immersion and sweating like crazy. Then I stopped and realized I was massively motion sick. Big Grin

It was bad enough that for the next week when I put on the Oculus Quest headset I'd get queasy. So after that settled down I went in to try again, and went to Explore instead of Play. Again I had a great experience, but couldn't get the hang of steering without getting woozy - so turned on Autosteer. That has helped a lot. This leads to my question - is there a guide to what all of the various options accomplish? I'm nervous about trial and error when it appears that I might be sensitive. It also drives me crazy that this bothers me - but that's another topic - I want to dive in and play everything, but that might not be an option for me.

Shon_T's Grand Canyon River Tour Series
Posted by: Shon_T - 07-04-2020, 04:07 AM - Forum: Ride Reviews - Replies (4)

UPDATED: 7/11/2020 (Full Series now available)

I noticed that Google has a "Street View" of the Colorado River, going straight through the Grand Canyon Some 275 miles or so...

I decided to turn my bike into a "water bike" and take a tour of the Grand Canyon via the Colorado River. Where is the Lotus Pond Skin when you need it?

Grand Canyon River Series:

Shon_T's Grand Canyon River Tour Begins (Part 1)- 32 Miles
Shon_T's Unknown Ride 13 (Part 2)- 12 Miles
Shon_T's Unknown Ride 15 (Part 3)- 10 Miles
Shon_T's Grand Canyon River Tour (Part 4)- 30 Miles
Shon_T's Grand Canyon River Tour II (Part 5)- 191 Miles

The scenery is absolutely stunning! Parts 1,2, and 3 are generally during sunny weather and offer dramatic landscape. Part 4 starts out foggy, and quickly turns to rain for the first half of the ride. The second half of the ride sees several nice rapids as the route winds through the narrow canyon ending  Near Phantom Ranch, which is where you would camp if you hiked from the top of the canyon at the South rim down to the bottom. Part 5 has some of the most varied scenery of them all.

The route is flat and both comfort mode and country mode work great! Auto steer works fine as well for the most part, but there are several places where it can be buggy, and cause you to get into a "loop" where the same scenery keeps repeating. If you find yourself "spinning" or getting caught in a loop, turn off auto steer and turn on "tilt to steer". This will allow you to navigate straight and get out of the loop. I found that this problem usually happens near transitions where the street view "jumps" due to lack of data.

I would recommend that yo
u keep the dots for path finding "on" and do not hide them, as the route does not flow straight down the river.  It follows the current like a raft, and will zigzag. Keeping the dots on will help you avoid motion sickness and will also help you know where to steer if needed.

I prefer the  comfort mode setting because the water movement looks more natural believe it or not. It is almost as if...you are floating down a river. Smile

While some might be annoyed by the bike riding avatar, it doesn't annoy me. I've gotten so used to not looking at my avatar...I just imagined that I was in a pedal canoe (looking at you Lotus Pond!)...peddling my way down the Colorado. for this ride, I was mostly looking up at the Canyon towering over me, and the interesting rock formations. Occasionally you will see other passengers on the raft, folks cleaning the camera when it gets wet, etc. It breaks the immersion a bit... but the spectacular scenery makes up for it. The last 50 miles or so of Part 5...Two rafts are in full-view for the entire last part of the tour. Again.. it didn't bother me, I felt like another passenger on the journey, but to each their own. Smile

I love this ride!

Shon_t's Unknown Ride 7 (Grand Canyon Phantom Ranch to South Rim via South Kaibab)
Posted by: Shon_T - 07-03-2020, 07:18 PM - Forum: Ride Reviews - No Replies

Map
Distance: 11.7 miles

Description: An incredibly picturesque route, from Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Canyon to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon Via the South Kaibab Trail. The first 6 or 7 miles is almost straight up the canyon. There is about 2-3 miles on the rim trail, followed by some really spotty road driving over the last couple of miles that takes you to the visitor center. This route was filmed using Google backpack Cameras. The high def cameras are great, the route finding NOT SO MUCH! This is an incredibly challenging ride, due to navigational issues...but it is still worth sharing due to the spectacular scenery!

PLEASE NOTE: This ride IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS or those prone to motion sickness! The following settings are recommended for this route:

1. Ride the route IN REVERSE! If you ride the route from the top of the Canyon you may get stuck!
2. Comfort mode is a must! This route is twisty and turns frequently... motion sickness is a strong possibility.
3. AUTO Steering should be TURNED OFF! Lean to Steer should be turned on.
4. Route finding should be TURNED ON! You need to see the white dots...it is a MUST.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET STUCK?

I completed this route so I know it is possible...that said...there were a couple of sections (2 or 3) that I got caught up on.
1. Lean to steer and try to stay on the path ahead of you. Even if the dots don't seem to align with the path..try to follow it.
2. There are many switchbacks. Anticipate where the path is taking you and turn in that direction even though you have yet to reach the turn.
3. The path always goes UP. It doesn't go down. Thing is...you might end up turning around to follow dots (looking downhill), but will still go up hill).
4. If you get caught in a loop, turn on "country mode" and ride towards the closest dots until you clear the area and start progressing forward. Switch back to comfort mode once you are progressing forward again.

If you are willing to put up with the navigational issues, this is an amazing ride!

There are 2 new rides through the Dolomites -- on the New tab in the ride menu.
Don't miss them! The awe-inspiring majesty of these mountains....I had to tell myself that I couldn't keep stopping and pressing B for hi-res....I wouldn't get any exercise that way.
