Brick VRFS: Ronda - Spain
Posted by: Snowpelt - 08-20-2020, 07:36 PM - Forum: Ride Reviews - Replies (2)

RONDA – SPAIN 5 MILES

Ronda is a city built on a mountain top in Spain that has several features that make it a great tour in Explorer.  The city is built over a giant gorge with several bridges attaching the parts of town.  The most famous of these is Puente Nuevo, completed in 1793, and provides an iconic image that draws tourists from around the world.
The city is also full of old Spanish castles and forts mixed among the newer buildings. Ronda is home to the oldest bullfighting ring in all of Spain and you will ride right by it!

Brick VRFS: Bealach na Bà - Scotland
Posted by: Snowpelt - 08-20-2020, 07:35 PM - Forum: Ride Reviews - Replies (3)

BEALACH NA BA- SCOTLAND 54 MILES
A winding single track road through the Scottish Highlands, this route is considered the Holy Grail of climbs.  You will start at sea level and work your way up to an elevation of 2000 feet, with road grades that approach 20%, then back down to sea level on the other end.

This is a great ride for those who enjoy switchbacks and beautiful views.

Brick VRFS: Shimanami Kaido - Japan
Posted by: Snowpelt - 08-20-2020, 07:35 PM - Forum: Ride Reviews - Replies (3)

SHIMANAMI KAIDO – JAPAN 48 MILES

This is the common name for the Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Expressway connecting Onomichi and Imabari. Along the way this route travels across several of the smaller islands in Japan.  With great views of both the coastal areas of Japan, as well as some small towns, it’s a great taste of the country.
If you enjoy this area be sure to come back and do some open riding to some of the shrines and other features. Find out more here.

  Popular rides tab
Posted by: emalafeew - 08-19-2020, 08:36 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Just an FYI we're now manually sorting rides on the Popular tab of Explore Rides, based on ride feedback from the reviews forum and Facebook community.

This is a precursor to an actual crowd rating system of rides we'll be introducing soon.

Also note the top 7 rides on the Popular tab are ones that Snowpelt made for the http://vrfitsummit.com tournament, going on right now so check it out!

Best experience with VirZOOM Sensor & Button?
Posted by: geodrome - 08-19-2020, 09:36 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I understand that it's possible to use 3rd party cadence/speed sensors, but they have more latency. Is the experience better with VirZOOM Sensor & Button? Is the difference noticeable?

I want to get my parents set up and I want them to have the best possible experience to maximize the chance they will stick with it.

Thanks.

  Unexpected Resets (Rant)
Posted by: Shon_T - 08-18-2020, 10:44 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

Its the little things that "get my goat". One of the things that constantly frustrates me about VZFIT  Explore is unexpected resets. They happen when I least expect it...and the seem to follow no pattern that I can understand.

For example... yesterday, Something dropped from the counter next to my bike. It might have gotten in the way or caused problems, so I took the headset off (still running, no menu open), to pick the item up and put it back on the counter top. When I put the headset back on just a few seconds later... Explore had completely turned off. When I turned it back on...I had to go back through the start menu and everything (Time, spins, etc.) was reset to zero.

About 15 minutes later I lifted up the headset to answer a question my son had asked me. The headset sensor must have been a fraction of an inch too high off my face, because the headset shut off. When I turned it back on...it went straight to the main menu and Time, spins, etc were again reset to zero.

There have been times when I took the headset off my face to wipe it down, and even though I try to keep a finger over the sensor... it shut off and progress was reset. Other times in the same circumstances the headset stays on...or turns back on...it goes straight into explore and my progress continued. There have been times where I have put the headset down to fill up my water bottle, took longer than expected, but came back and it was still on and running explore...others where I was out and back quickly and it reset. I've tried menu open... I've tried no menu... this has happened to me in comfort mode, country mode, etc. Sometimes I just wait until a certain time or number of spins and just manually close the Explore App, knowing that it is easier to keep track of my progress if I manually restart later.

On the positive side...it has been a while since something like this happens and my progress was dumped. That has happened to me several times where I am say... 44% through a ride, and come back to find that I am only 32% through it now. In some cases... on some of my longer rides, The difference  could be 50 plus miles or more.

I still wish the unexpected resets could be addressed. I know in the past I asked for a pause button to pause the clock/progress, but was told that was not possible due to online matchups. My fitbit allows me to pause my exercise... life happens especially when I am working out at home, hehe.

I think I would be less frustrated if there was at least some consistency... like... if I knew that being away for 5 minutes would cause it to reset. As it is now....I could be away for 15 seconds or 15 minutes...and it might be reset or still running either way...

  Sorting and Finding Created Rides
Posted by: Mindoc - 08-17-2020, 09:37 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

In the last few months the number of shared rides has increased dramatically --from a couple pages to 29!
It is cumbersome to go through all the pages to find rides to choose. I suggest you develop a way to sort the rides, list, and find rides alphabetically by location. This would better be done on the computer.   Perhaps the list could also be tied to descriptions and reviews.

Bug - Trainer resets on jump to next location.
Posted by: surfous - 08-17-2020, 08:40 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

This started happening, I believe after the June release. I usually ride in explorer with a trainer doing HIIT intervals. The intensity pattern in this mode is

Medium-30s, Hard-18s, All Out-12s X 5 reps
Light-120s
Medium-30s, Hard-18s, All Out-12s X 5 reps
Light-60s
Repeat

What’s happening now when either “jumping to next location” or, hitting the last visible dot and there’s a lag in loading more dots, is that the trainer will reset from wherever it is in the above sequence to the beginning of the sequence.

While seemingly minor, I’ve found it to be surprisingly disruptive as I’ve got a tendency to go extra hard on the last rep or two knowing there’s a break coming up to recover only to have to sequence reset.

Since this wasn’t always the case, is it possible to restore the original behavior where the trainer’s intensity level/timer doesn’t reset in these cases?

Spin Bike vs Upright Bike for VZFit
Posted by: geodrome - 08-16-2020, 05:54 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I'm debating between a spin bike and an upright exercise bike. Though I've ridden a bicycle, I'm not a rider. I'm buying primarily for use with VZFit.

It seems spin bikes engage more of your body and feel more like a real bike. However, it seems HUD placement within VZFit games is tuned for an upright bike, thus making it more comfortable to look around within games (and to steer?).

Any comments on this issue appreciated. At the very least would like to verify the I've correctly identified the trade-off between spin and upright bikes.

Thanks.

It seems the the heavier flywheel typical of spin bikes provides a smoother/better/more realistic experience...

How to solve the "Hold L + R to Recenter" problem
Posted by: wmlabsteam - 08-13-2020, 08:50 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hi, we had imported VZFit sdk into our game in the unity. Instead of restart the Unity Editor, we have a button to restart game when the game finished.
But after restarting, the transition canvas has a message that is "Hold L + R to Recenter". There's no effect to click the A, B button on the VZButton at the same time. How to solve this problem?
