  Ride leaderboard rankings
Posted by: emalafeew - 02-15-2020, 12:55 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

We made a small fix to the ride leaderboards at vzfit.com/stats...

A month ago we changed leaderboard rankings for all games to consider the same score a tie, so both players would have the same ranking, like

1. Bob 500
1. Cheryl 500
3. Linda 400

But the Explorer ride leaderboards aren't just sorted by percent complete, but also by finish date, to resolve ties for everyone that has finished at 100%.

The fix was to correctly show their ranking again, like

1. Linda 100%
2. Cheryl 100% (finished ride after Linda)
3. Bob 1%

Yes, that is how uptight we are about these things!      Blush

  Formula One Racing reversed
Posted by: sakione - 02-14-2020, 04:09 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hello, when using the helicopter app, the leaning is reversed and when using the Formula One app a forward pedal makes the car go in reverse. How are these fixed? Thank you.

  Neck pinching while looking up
Posted by: ScoWalt - 02-12-2020, 04:14 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

Background: I've historically had issues with some of the vertebrae in my neck. They tend to get inflamed / pinched when looking "up". (Don't worry, I'm not looking for medical advice, and I've been to a physical therapist about this Smile )

I've noticed that most of the games in VZ Play require you to look straight forward. Because of the forward posture of exercise biking, this requires the player to look "up", extending the front of the neck and contracting / pinching the back of the neck.

To VIRZoom, it would be great to have an option to look "down" (between my legs) and continue to see what's in front of me. (EDIT: Doing this would allow me to keep a neutral posture while playing the game, avoiding the neck pinch) I don't know if this could be done by just resetting the view, or maybe there could be a mirror between my legs in the virtual world?

To other players, have you encountered this same issue? Have you found any workarounds?

Cheers!

  Gem Hunt
Posted by: spyder17 - 02-09-2020, 09:25 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Tried playing the Gem hunt event and noticed that there were no gems.  The gold was there but there were no gems showing.  I exited and tried the Gem hunt in games mode and the gems were not present there either.  Is this a bug or were they removed intentionally?

  Explorer improvements
Posted by: Mu1e - 02-03-2020, 11:18 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Need to fix the explorer so that poles are not stretch same with signs, the games are very good, but I think the explorer is going to be what most people are going to want to ride in long term. There are also times when I ride through walls of blue nothing. It would also be nice to add the radio to the explorer also. Keep up the good work, I think the explorer has a lot of promise. Smile

You should be able to roll down the hills in Cali Rally
Posted by: Colonel_Izzi - 02-02-2020, 06:27 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

One potential objection is that merely rolling runs counter to the whole point of VZfit, but I disagree for two reasons:

1) Powering up a hill with more intensity than you otherwise might because you know you'll be able to roll down the other side is part of a real-world cycling workout.

2) One of the magical powers that virtual reality brings to the fitness equation is that when what you're doing is fun, the actual exercise component flirts with being "incidental" as opposed to being more of a psychological hurdle when it is merely exercise for it's own sake. This is obviously why you've found that people tend to spend more time on exercise bikes when the activity is augmented by virtual reality than they do when it's not. I think that adding this additional dimension of fun and realism is totally in line with that.

This wouldn't have to be the default behaviour of course (though I would personally argue that it should be). You could put a toggle in the Options panel instead. But please consider it.

Thanks Smile

  Using Oculus hand controllers
Posted by: emalafeew - 01-28-2020, 09:07 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (21)

We created the VZ Button to perform actions easily while holding on to your stationary bike.

But people who really don't like to put down their Oculus hand controller after launching our game have asked if we could also support them. To which we say "Why not?"

As of today's Play update you emulate our A button with A/X/Trigger, and our B button with B/Y/Back, on the Go or Quest hand controllers. The same will be true in the next Explorer update.

  Keep Flying game
Posted by: emalafeew - 01-28-2020, 08:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Today's update for VZfit Play contains another game for Pegasus called "Keep Flying".

It was part of the original VirZOOM Arcade collection, but took extra optimization to run smoothly with thousands of trees and hundreds and gems and apples on both the Oculus Go and Quest.  Those trees also add beauty to our two other Pegasus games.

In the game you must fly precisely over tree tops to eat apples and gems, which give you the energy to keep flying.  Gems give you more energy but there are fewer of them.  Every 20 apples or gems moves you up a stage and increases your coin multiplier.  Touching the ground (which you must do eventually after losing all energy) resets you to a stage multiplier of one.

We've also been known to call it Flappy Horse, after the similar 2D game that requires you to fly at precise heights without hitting the ground.  Smile

Don't forget, the coins you accumulate in all our games unlock avatar upgrades you can select on the main game screen.  The Gold Pegasus upgrade gives you more energy capacity, a higher flight ceiling, and faster turning and landing in all its games.

  How to follow a route
Posted by: editortom - 01-26-2020, 08:15 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I gather I’m missing something obvious, but... When I try to follow a user-created route (including anything I’ve created using Google Maps), there’s no way to distinguish the route dots from other dots that just seem to indicate roads that are available to travel upon. Is there a way to color code the dots for a specific route, or to turn off dots that don’t apply to the route you’re trying to follow?
