  Boats back in River Run
Posted by: emalafeew - 03-24-2020, 12:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

We've made enough optimizations in Go & Play to support boat opponents again in River Run.  Many players of the original game had requested it.

Boats appear in higher levels and must be hit three times to sink.  They move back and forth and have turrets that shoot at you, though their ammo only travels a short distance so you're safe far away.  You can also shoot their turrets separately from the hull!

  Cadence and speed sensor support
Posted by: emalafeew - 03-24-2020, 12:22 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Both Play and Explorer can now be played with any Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) cadence or speed sensors.  They have more latency than our sensor, between 2-4 seconds, but the games still work fine.

To perform actions, you can use the Oculus hand controller (trigger=A, B/Y/touchpad=B) or get a Bluetooth media button (previous=A, next=B).  Because cadence and speed sensors don't track direction, the B button makes you go in reverse in games where it doesn't make you dive.

The VZfit Sensor kit is still available and the best way to play, because its sensor has no latency and detects direction, and its button is designed for comfortable responsive play.

Our goal is to widen the number of players who can experience VZfit, who may already have a cadence or speed sensor, or want one for the price or compatibility with other apps.

  Lotus Pond game
Posted by: emalafeew - 03-24-2020, 12:10 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Lotus Pond is finally available on VZfit!  It's our most comfortable VR game and our most relaxing.

What you do is pedal a kayak around a lake.  The day, dusk, night, and dawn happen.  There are fish, ducks, and grandmas that feed them.  If that's all you want to do, peace out.  But there's also a game in there for hyper-competitive folks.

During the day get ducks to follow you and drop them off at grandmas around the lake for score. They'll follow when you come near or you can throw food to get them come a bit farther. The more ducks that follow you, you get progressively more score, but it's also easier for them to get snagged in weeds or for the grandmas to disappear at dusk.

At night, the fish glow and you see underwater gems. Throw food in the water to lead them around the good/blue gems and avoid the bad/red gems.

It doesn't support multiplayer yet, but when it does you'll see that players are big pandas, because pandas are fun to hang with.

  GearVR Support
Posted by: djackal - 03-22-2020, 03:26 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hello,

I purchased a VirZoom sensor kit from you back in December expecting to be able to use it with my Samsung GearVR.  I learned later that the current version of your product is not compatible with GearVR.  I plan to eventually purchase an Oculus Quest, but it has been unavailable for months, and Amazon is not shipping any non-essential goods anyway due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Is there any version of firmware that I could get that would enable my VirZoom to work with my GearVR for now?  We are worried that quarantine will be put into effect in our state soon, and the ability to use VirZoom would help us out a lot.

Thanks in advance.

  Developing New Games

I’d love to see a horse racing game. It would be good for short intense workout outs 2-3 (depending on difficulty) minutes each race. How about regular and steeplechase.
Instead of “waves” like Jail bandits they would be individual horse races instead. You would Press “A” to jump a hurdle.
This would be a great way to compete against others in online play.

  Couple requests
Posted by: KevinBrook - 03-22-2020, 12:13 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi guys,

I've got a couple of requests that would hopefully be pretty easy to implement but would help with keeping track of my workouts better, and might be useful to others. They might even already be present but I've not figured out how to use yet!

1) Is it possible to search how many spin cycles I've done by month or year? I set myself a goal of 240,000 spin cycles in 2020 which is around 5000 a week. Two thirty-minute sessions. However, I am having to remember to add each workout and spin count manually on a Sticky Note on my phone as I don't see a way of tracking how much I've done using the usage stats here? I'd love to be able to compare months and see how I'm faring in March compared to January for example.

2) This one is a real peeve for me. When I use Explorer I would like to repeat some of my created routes and try and improve my times. But I find the clock on Explorer starts counting as soon as I load a level rather than when I actually begin pedaling. What happens is I load my ride up, then click to select a trainer. Then I program my bike to set up a 30-minute rolling hills or hill climb workout, then I set up my Fitbit for a 30-minute cycle workout. By this time there's already a minute or so gone on the clock and I haven't even started yet!
This means I can't race against myself as the clock isn't accurate. Would it be possible to have the time start on Explorer routes ONLY when you begin pedaling?

3) Following on from that, with the time being accurately recorded could the time be recorded somewhere so that if I repeat a ride I can challenge my old time. I have some rowing software for my Concept 2 called RowPro that I have used for years, and it uses a split every 500 meters to let you know how many seconds + or - you are ahead or behind of your previous times. If every 500 cycles or so it flashed up how far ahead or behind I am of my best time that would an excellent way to motivate myself to push harder.

4) Another similar idea that I think would work well especially on Play on the oval and curvy race tracks would be programmable pace cars. Again, using Rowpro you can set up a row with pace boats and select their 500-meter pace. So let's say you want to do 5000 meters at a sub 2:15 pace you program a pace boat for that pace and make sure you stay ahead of it.

On the race tracks it would be great to be able to program a race car to complete laps in a certain time limit, say 50 seconds per lap over a 30-minute race, and each lap you get told how far ahead or behind you are. That way users could aim for a 1 second faster average lap each race, maybe even half second increments. The race cars at the moment seem to race at defined speeds and your own ghost car obviously keeps recording your best lap, but I find the best lap time unhelpful for long rides. If I'm racing for 30 minutes I am definitely not getting anywhere close to my best lap speeds by the end compared to where I started, but a pace lap would be an average speed that I know I need to maintain over time and distance to hit my goal. Then I could work to incrementally improve the pace time each workout.

Hope these ideas might be useful to others too. Basically I want more accurate and effective ways to measure my progress and set personal targets!

sometimes after wave 10 when the power ups sink, ammo does not appear. I cannot shoot and the game hangs requiring a restart. This occasionally happens after wave 5 or 15.

  Stats error?

I just jumped from Rank 58 where I had under 131,865 Spins, to Rank 28 where I have 205,105 spins.

My workout was only about 5k spins over 90min. Just keeping it honest.  Big Grin

I'm about to jump on my bike where I plan to do another 5k Spins right now... I figure I would have to do 22 hours worth of riding to make up that many additional spins.  Big Grin
