SDK Feedback

Let us know what you've done with the VZfit SDK here!

It's the same core code used by VZfit Play and Explorer, so we're happy to describe how those work.

My VZFit sensor is on its way and I'm interested in developing a game using HTC Vive and Unity.

Is it still the case that I need a special bluetooth USB dongle to use the sensor with Windows as mentioned here

Hi Phattanapon,

For the moment, yes, any sort of Windows development and use would require the dongle linked to there.  We have native Windows Bluetooth support in the SDK roadmap, but can't announce a specific date for releasing it.  It's high on our list, but certainly hearing that people want it will help us prioritize.  Thanks for asking!

There's another thread here for telling us about the projects people are interested in making.  Please share unless you want to keep it a secret.   Smile

It's a research project of my Master student. We're combining 360 video and HTC Vive and a bike to help elderly who has trouble getting outside to have a chance to virtually visit places.
We recorded first person view 360 videos on a bike at various scenic places. We attach the vive controller to the bike pedal and write a script to convert the controller movement to 360 video playback speed.
I believe the VZFit solution could be better and the added buttons could allow for some nice interaction.

Anyway, the problem now is that bluetooth dongle on Amazon will not ship to my country.
I found a similar one here.

Do you think this one should work?

Thank you very much.

Yes, any BlueGiga BLE112D is fine. Good luck!

I made this 'cycle through art' demo using the VirZOOM Unity SDK

It's just a demo, but left me wanting to make a full game in a tilt brush art world! So many possibilities!

We have been working on our Master thesis research project that attempts to activate elderly somatic in-patients from a Hospital here in Copenhagen in order to document possible improvements. I am currently trying to get a proper understanding of the SDK.

We have gotten some attention lately here in Denmark and we have even been able to show our work, your sensor included, on national TV in an interview we did a week ago (https://bit.ly/2N5HzMf). you can follow a bit of our progress here (www.medcarevr.com) still just a thesis research project but it seems we may be able to a good opportunity to work further with this after we are done Studying.

Thanks for posting Steen, we're happy to help! Not a lot of SDK users yet, so if you post questions here everyone later can benefit from our discussion.

Hello Mates,

We are setting up a significant clinical study using the VirZOOM in VR involving patients with mental disorders and measuring their brain metabolism.

  I do have 2 questions :

we will create the virtual environnements for the VirZOOM with the unrealEngine, does the SDK VZPlugin_Unreal found here  works?

Did you integrate blueprint nodes working with the VirZOOM to simplify prototyping?

  Thanks in advance

Sorry our old SDK including the Unreal Plugin you found only works with original Virzoom Bikes, not our new VZfit Sensor Kit. Our new SDK that supports the Sensor Kit only supports Unity for now.

If you have original Virzoom bikes you could use the old Unreal Plugin, but we no longer have an Unreal programmer on staff to support it. It did integrate blueprint nodes.

If you need to use Unreal with the Sensor Kit, I may be able to provide a C++ version of our SDK but then you'd have to do the blueprint integration.
